I think we can figure this out...

Thanks for last week - Help me choose a winner | A new Vogue Mini available in Lilac | Some art that will show you the beauty in the darkness of life

Next week is the start of the next phase of my London campaign. That will mean absolutely nothing to 90% of you, for the other 10% ifykyk.

Next week should be fun. Hold your hats, from here it starts to get good…

Last week we tried something special

I love to break the rules, unfortunately, that meant that when I was at school I spent a lot of time out of the classroom. My Art teacher in secondary school loved my drawings but spent most of the time making me write lines.

It’s a great skill set to give a kid who can’t focus, now I’m exceptional at enjoying doing activities that are repetitive and pointless. The jokes on them, because that’s all Art is…

But beauty comes from repetitive and pointless actions. Over the last five years, I’ve tried countless public art projects, and the same thing happens every time they get good—people take them from the street.

It makes sense, but I could never figure out how to get the balance right between making things for people to enjoy (and take) and avoiding becoming broke (a lifetime’s problem in art). I think we’ve figured it out this time.

Last week I asked everyone to reply to a short question to get a Micro Vogue Mirror, I was overwhelmed by what I got back.

Fact, I got you

There were over a hundred responses and that broke my heart. I’ll do this every week for a while and see where it goes. Hopefully, everyone who wants one will get one.

Here are three responses from last week, help me choose who should get it by voting.

I make a limited amount of Black Paintings every year, I reserve them for my closest collectors and friends and try and test out how far I can take the idea of making the darkness beautiful.

They’re for the real Art lovers and crazy characters living lives at the extreme end of the tracks.

This painting is made from Antique Ivory Piano Keys. They’re predominantly Walrus and Elephant tusks that have been burned and charred at 1200K then crushed into a fine powder to create a pigment that is darker than anything I’ve been able to make synthetically.

I love the combination of such a brutal process with complex origins making work so fragile and delicate especially when the materials carry all that ancient and raw energy with them.

Maybe the complexity of life is what makes it so enjoyable,

Maybe the fragility is what makes it so beautiful.

The highs and lows keep us entertained while knowing it’s not forever is what makes each moment so special.

With Love,
